We are ready to roll with the first phase of the project: the Italian selection of artists coming from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara @abac. The Opening of the exhibition will be Friday the 22nd of August 2025 at gallery.ths, 4 Burton rd, Margaret River WA.

At the moment we are working on this opportunity to expand the perimeters of printmaking and to generate a world wide cultural event.
“Cross Currents – Italy/Australia: An International Print Exchange between the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara and Margaret River Printmaking”
1. Objectives
– To promote cultural exchange and art printmaking between Italy and Australia.
– To showcase emerging talent from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara.
– To showcase the excellence of Western Australian printmaking professionals.
– To promote international relations between institutions and artistic communities.
2. Format
- Print format: All works must be 35×35 cm (paper size).
- Technique: Traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques (etching, woodcut, lithography, silkscreen, etc.).
- Participants:
– From Carrara to Australia: 20 students
– From Margaret River to Italy: 20 Western Australian professionals printmakers .
3. Hypothetical Timeline
- August 2025 Australian Exhibition of the Italian participants
- February/ March Italian Exhibition of the Australian participants
4. Locations
Carrara: Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara – public gallery/exhibition space.
Margaret River: Margaret River HEART or local gallery affiliated with Margaret River Printmaking.
5. Logistics
Artwork Presentation
Each artist provides 1 original print (published or monotypes).
All works must be shipped unframed, flat, with artist bio and statement.
Include a digital file for online presentation/catalog.
Shipping
Bulk shipping arranged by each institution for maximum efficiency.
Artworks must be handled with archival care and insured.
Exhibition Setup
Coordinated by local curators or lecturers on both sides.
6. Public Programming
– Openings in both cities.
– Meetings with artists/teachers (in person or via Zoom).
– Printmaking demonstrations or workshops open to the public/students.
– Virtual gallery tour for online visitors.
7. Documentation and Promotion
Web page: containing all works, biographies and statements (bilingual: Italian/English).
Website/Online Archive: hosts digital versions of works and photos of events.

– Mettere in mostra i talenti emergenti dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara.
– Presentare l’eccellenza degli incisori professionisti dell’Australia Occidentale.
– Promuovere le relazioni internazionali tra istituzioni e comunità artistiche.
2. Formato
Formato di stampa: Tutte le opere dovranno essere di 35×35 cm (dimensione carta).
Tecnica: Tecniche di stampa tradizionali e contemporanee (acquaforte, xilografia, litografia, serigrafia, ecc.).
Partecipanti:
Da Carrara all’Australia: 16 studenti + 4 docenti = 20 partecipanti.
Da Margaret River all’Italia: 20 incisori professionisti del Western Australia .
3. Cronologia ipotetica
| Maggio – Giugno 2025/26 | Confermare i partecipanti e la logistica; iniziare la promozione. |
| Luglio 2025/26 | Scadenza per la presentazione delle opere da parte degli artisti. Le stampe verranno spedite tra Italia e Australia. |
| Agosto 2025/26 | Mostre aperte al pubblico in entrambe le sedi. |
4. Sedi
- Carrara: Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara – galleria pubblica/spazio espositivo.
- Margaret River: Margaret River HEART o galleria locale affiliata a Margaret River Printmaking.
5. Logistica
Presentazione delle opere
Ogni artista fornisce 1-2 stampe originali (edite o monotipi).
Tutte le opere devono essere spedite senza cornice, piatte, con biografia e dichiarazione dell’artista.
Includere un file digitale per la presentazione/catalogo online.
Spedizione
Spedizione in blocco organizzata da ciascuna istituzione per garantire la massima efficienza.
Le opere devono essere trattate con cura d’archivio e assicurate.
Allestimento della mostra
Coordinato da curatori o docenti locali di entrambe le parti.
Possibilità di includere materiali digitali (video degli studi, interviste).
6. Programmazione pubblica
– Inaugurazioni in entrambe le città.
– Incontri con artisti/docenti (di persona o tramite Zoom).
– Dimostrazioni o workshop di incisione aperti al pubblico/studenti.
– Tour virtuale della galleria per i visitatori online.
7. Documentazione e promozione
Catalogo cartaceo: contenente tutte le opere, biografie e dichiarazioni (bilingue: italiano/inglese). ?
Sito web/Archivio online: ospita le versioni digitali delle opere e le foto degli eventi.
Campagna social media con hashtag (#CarraraMargaretRiverPrints, #crosscurrents ecc.)
